A 14-year-old girl, who had been reported missing since September 2021, was found by a U.S. Marshals fugitive team in a home in Port Huron, Michigan. The girl was discovered hiding in a hallway closet behind some clothes and was taken to the hospital where she was found to be pregnant.
The deputy U.S. Marshal, Robert Watson, stated that the teenager was crying and afraid of losing her baby. He added that there was evidence of sexual abuse and the belief that she was being trafficked.
According to Watson, the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office had referred the case to his office on February 7th, and the teenager was recovered within hours of the referral. Four adults inside the home acted surprised upon the discovery of the girl.
The girl was reunited with her biological father and investigators are planning to file parental kidnapping charges against her biological mother, who did not have custody and had moved the girl from house to house. The teenager was reportedly ecstatic about being reunited with her father and was afraid of being returned to the system if she was found.
