Robbery Suspect Stabs, Bites, Man After Being Detained

A robbery suspect stabbed and bit a man after being detained. A Massachusetts delivery driver was making deliveries for Instacart in Malden when he saw the suspect robbing a woman of her purse and rushed over to help. According to police, the good Samaritan sustained bite marks and a stab wound after he tried to stop the robbery.

In an attempt to keep the suspect at bay until the police arrived, 21-year-old Ryan Dos Santos subdued the suspect and held him down until authorities showed up on Chestnut Street.

“I saw the opportunity, tackled him, and went on the ground,” Dos Santos said. “You don’t even think when these things happen. I don’t know, instinct.”

The helpful hero was bitten on his arm and stabbed in the leg while stopping the suspect from getting away, said police.

“He was able to stab me in my leg, my quad. Bit me three times on my left arm,” Dos Santos said. “My leg is kind of numb. The bite marks sting a bit.”

Dos Santos received serious injuries for his efforts and was transported to the local hospital for treatment. After being stitched up, the victim is expected to recover.

“I don’t think it’s that big of a deal,” he said. “I did what every good citizen should do. I don’t know if they would, but should.”

The female robbery victim was not hurt, police said.

Police identified Jayson Seay as the suspect. He is facing charges of assault with intent to murder and armed robbery. His arraignment is set for Tuesday.
