JioSaavn is bringing back the India Superhits Awards, and this time it’s all about the numbers. Winners will be based solely on streaming data from the past year.
Music streaming platform JioSaavn has announced the return of its India Superhits Awards, an initiative first launched last year. The awards, unlike traditional ceremonies with glitzy events, will highlight the most streamed music based solely on user engagement through its service, rather than industry votes or panels.
The awards will recognize artists across five categories: the most streamed song, male artist, female artist, composer, and lyricist for the calendar year from January 1 to December 31, 2025. Winners will be determined based on the total number of streams on JioSaavn, creating a straightforward reflection of listener preferences.
This year, the awards will cover music from ten different languages, showcasing a mix of popular and regional music. Hindi, Punjabi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and English have always been at the forefront of JioSaavn’s streaming data. However, the inclusion of Malayalam, Bhojpuri, Bengali, and Marathi in the awards categories indicates a significant increase in interest and consumption of regional music, aligning with broader trends in India’s diverse music scene.
The announcement also hints at forthcoming revelations, as winners are set to be disclosed over the coming weeks. Notably, JioSaavn has already published its year-end streaming statistics for 2025, providing early insights into potential winners in the Hindi categories. Yet, the data from December has been excluded from this recap, leaving open the possibility for shifts in rankings. December witnessed the release of major Bollywood tracks from the spy thriller “Dhurandhar,” impacting JioSaavn’s Hindi top 10 tracks chart significantly.
The return of the India Superhits Awards marks an exciting opportunity for artists and fans alike, reaffirming the platform’s commitment to recognizing the most beloved music through tangible metrics. As the awards loom closer, anticipation builds for the results that will celebrate the year’s most popular songs and artists.
