Four people were found dead in an apparent murder-suicide killing in a North Dakota wheat field, police said Tuesday.

On Monday, the four bodies were located in the wheat field after someone tipped off the police to the group of unresponsive individuals, said Towner County Sheriff Andrew Hillier in a news release.

The names of the individuals were not given in the news release. Hillier did not identify a possible motive. The sheriff said in the release that evidence at the scene suggested the killings resulted from a murder-suicide.

According to Hillier, one of the bodies was found with a gun.

More information about the case has been requested. However, Hillier has not responded.

The Forum News Service of Fargo was told by the sheriff that the four people are believed to be co-workers. The farm equipment at the crime scene was pierced by gunfire.

Hillier said that authorities are continuing their investigation.
