NAB Redesigns Spot Center to Simplify PSA Access for Stations

Cleaner access to free PSA campaigns

The National Association of Broadcasters has redesigned its Spot Center to make it easier for local radio and television stations to find and use public service announcements from nonprofit organizations. The update matters for broadcasters because it gives stations a quicker path to broadcast-ready community service material at no cost, with content built around public issues relevant to local audiences.

The refreshed platform is set up for simpler browsing and downloading, with materials that stations can voluntarily air on issues such as heatstroke, Alzheimer’s and drug-impaired driving. NAB says the resource is intended to support local broadcasters’ role beyond news and entertainment by connecting them with educational content they can use to inform and engage listeners and viewers.

What the revamped portal offers

The Spot Center now features a cleaner, more intuitive layout aimed at making the user experience easier for broadcasters. The portal includes broadcast-ready public service materials, free-to-use campaigns available at no cost to broadcasters, and content from established organizations focused on important public issues.

That structure gives station managers, programmers and promotions teams a single place to locate PSA campaigns without having to build messaging from scratch. For radio groups and local stations that regularly look for service-oriented content, the redesign reduces the friction involved in identifying usable spots and getting them on air.

NAB ties the tool to local service goals

In announcing the update, NAB said local broadcasters have long served their communities beyond news and entertainment. The association said Spot Center supports that mission by connecting stations with trusted educational resources they can use to inform and engage their audiences.

The new site is available to broadcasters seeking public education materials from credible organizations on societal topics. NAB also notes that PSAs can be downloaded and aired voluntarily at the discretion of local stations, keeping the service free for both the organizations providing the spots and the broadcasters using them.
