Introduction

Scammers are targeting clients looking to get their hair braided by using real stylists’ work and creating fake social media pages.

Reports of Scams

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) is receiving reports of scams targeting individuals wanting braids. Scammers take pictures from legitimate stylists and post them on fake social media pages.

Modus Operandi

Potential clients find the fake pages and book appointments, often making small deposits. Clients realize they have been scammed when they do not hear back from the supposed stylist on the appointment day.

Impact on Legitimate Businesses

Real stylists like Porsche Hensley, who has been braiding hair for over 10 years and owns Divine Innovation 615 in Nashville, are affected. Hensley reported instances where clients arrived for appointments, only to find out they were scammed.

Precautions to Avoid Scams

BBB advises not to pay for the service in full before the appointment. Visit the stylist’s location before booking. Verify the stylist’s work by searching for them online and including the word “scam” after their name. Ask for the stylist’s license number and verify it.

Continuing the Business

Despite the scams, stylists like Porsche Hensley remain undeterred and continue their work.

Conclusion

Scammers exploiting the popularity of hair braiding are causing issues for both clients and legitimate stylists. Clients are advised to take precautions to ensure they are booking authentic services.

Migos’ Iconic Status: Rickey Smiley Morning Show (video)

Share

The Rickey Smiley Morning show discussed the celebration of life ceremony for the late Migos Rapper Takeoff. More said the services would be held on Friday, November 11th, at the State Farm arena in Atlanta. According to TMZ, reverend Jesse Curney, III of New Mercies Christian Church, will officiate the service, which begins at 1:00 PM, informed More.

Over the weekend, the rapper’s family held a balloon send-off to honor the megastar. Drake has postponed his Friday, November 11th concert at the Apollo theater so that he could attend the service.

More gave an update on the investigation. She said law enforcement sources recently said that they are vigorously investigating the argument that led to the 28-year-old rapper’s death. However, authorities have not pinpointed a suspect yet, added the morning host.

“When I think about the Migos… I always thought that they would go down as an iconic rap group. Like when you think about, you know, Tribe Called Quest, and you think about Outkast and N.W.A. They were that new iconic [rap group],” said More.

“I think they’re still gonna get that label, but it’s different now because they wasn’t able to really, you know, max it out with another classic album,” said the radio DJ.

More said was glad that the service would be held at the arena because a lot of people are mourning his death.
