This year, we are celebrating the 87th year since its establishment, and the celebrations are nothing short of grand! To honor this significant milestone, we have lined up a series of commemorative projects and events to highlight our journey and contributions to the growth of -on-bet” target=”_blank”> music. One such event is the launch of “87 Years of Music,” a coffee table book that recounts the story of music through our historical archives and contemporary insights. Get ready to flip through rare images, documents, and interviews, and dive into the thoughts of influential songwriters, music publishers, entertainment executives, and tastemakers.

Announcement of the Book

The program will kick off with the introduction of “87 Years of Music,” a coffee table book written and art directed by Bob Guccione, Jr., the founder of SPIN magazine. This book will chronicle the story of music as related through rare images, documents and interviews from the bmi archives interspersed with current voices from influential songwriters, music publishers and entertainment executives and tastemakers.

Presentation and Release

The book will be presented at the annual invitation-only bmi NAB dinner to be held in April during the National Association of Broadcasters convention. The anniversary book will be released in April 2025 in hardcover to select retail outlets, and will be simultaneously distributed as an e-book.

Additional Material and Programming

Additional audio, audiovisual and printed material and programming will be produced throughout the year, including archival and current video footage on bmi TV to be distributed virally and via bmi.com.
