A Tribute to a Legend
Chaka Khan, a ten-time GRAMMY® winner, has been honored for her exceptional 40-year career in music and entertainment in Chicago, Illinois. She participated in the ceremonial unveiling of Chaka Khan Way on S. Blackstone Avenue between 50th and 51st Streets. This ceremony was graced by Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Fourth Ward Alderman William Burns, city officials, business and community leaders, and celebrity friends of Chaka’s. On the following day, she was honored in a ceremony proclaiming that day “Chaka Khan Day.”
Continuing the Musical Journey
accepting the honors from the city, Chaka returned the love by performing in a free outdoor concert in Millennium Park, one of the city’s most popular outdoor arts and culture destinations. Despite her doctor ordering an extended period of vocal rest, Chaka resumed her concert dates in the U.S. and globally, including performances in Vienna, Nashville, Philadelphia, Miami, Las Vegas, Tokyo, and Osaka.
Chaka Khan’s Legacy
This year marks the 40th anniversary of Chaka’s career in music and entertainment. The celebrations will include the release of a series of new albums, titled The iKhan Project, featuring recorded music in eight genres, including R&;B, jazz, pop, rock, gospel, country, classical, and dance music. Additionally, plans are underway for the Chaka Khan I’m Every Woman World Tour, which will feature other top female artists.
