Albertina Walker and The Caravans were signed to Savoy Records in 1955. By the following year, they had become one of the most popular acts on the gospel music circuit, largely due to their ethereal vocal interplay and strong alternating leads. The Caravans disbanded in the mid-’70s, but their influence in the gospel industry lived on through occasional reunion tours.
