Unprecedented in its history, the Latin Recording Academy made headlines with the election of its first female Chair of the Board of Trustees, Laura Tesoriero. Alongside this groundbreaking appointment, Marcelo Castello Branco, Johnny Ventura, and Luis Villanueva were elected to key roles, marking a new era for the Academy. We also celebrated the renewal of President/CEO Gabriel Abaroa Jr.’s contract, solidifying his leadership role for years to come. The Latin Recording Academy Leadership
The Latin Recording Academy made a monumental move by electing Argentina-based EPSA Music CEO Laura Tesoriero as the first female Chair of the Board of Trustees. Founder and CEO of Brazil-based MCB (Music Content Branding) Marcelo Castello Branco was elected Vice Chair. Latin GRAMMY winner and Latin Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement -on-bet” target=”_blank”> recipient Johnny Ventura was elected Secretary. Founder and current President/CEO of Somos TV Luis Villanueva was elected Treasurer at its annual Board of Trustees meeting. Outgoing Chair of the Board Luis Cobos was elected Chair Emeritus.
Continuity in Leadership
As part of the meeting, Chair of the Board Tesoriero the extension of President/CEO Gabriel Abaroa Jr.’s contract. Abaroa, who had one remaining year on his previous contract, has now completed over two decades at the helm of the premier Latin music organization. He assumed the role of President of The Latin Recording Academy in March 2003 and was promoted to President/CEO in August 2010.
