Two years ago, TuneCore, a company that has always celebrated the independent spirit of hip-hop, launched an innovative program called #TuneCoreStudio at #A3CProAudio. This program, which aimed to nurture the careers of a new generation of talented artists, brought together nine producer/ pairings to compose and record entirely new songs in live-streamed, three-hour sessions. Today, we take a look back at the program’s success and continued impact on the hip-hop community.
The #TuneCoreStudio Initiative
As TuneCore’s leading genre, hip-hop accounts for the majority of the company’s revenue and quantity of downloads and streams. In 2023, nearly 50 percent of the artists performing at A3C, the preeminent hip-hop festival in the U.S., had distributed music through TuneCore. With #TuneCoreStudio, TuneCore became the Official Music Distribution &; Publishing Administration Sponsor for A3C.
Impact on Artists
Material recorded at the #TuneCoreStudio sessions was released on an exclusive compilation the event. This initiative aligned with TuneCore’s pledge to help artists achieve their goals without giving up their independence, while also retaining the full rights to their music.
The Details
The #TuneCoreStudio at #A3CProAudio was held from October 9th through 11th in 2023 from noon until 10PM each day at SAE, 215 Peachtree St. NE in Atlanta, GA. A3C attendees were invited to view the sessions as they were streamed to a screen on the second floor.

The #TuneCoreStudio at #A3CProAudio was just one of the initiatives TuneCore undertook in support of A3C and the hip-hop community. At the festival, Chris Mooney, TuneCore Senior Director of Artist Promotions, moderated the panel, “Fueling the Independent Spirit: Blueprint for Going Global”. Chris was also available for discussions with artists, Pro-Audio staff, SAE engineers and other attendees throughout the festival. Following the festival, TuneCore continued to support A3C with co-marketing and communication efforts.
