A Stroll Down Memory Lane: The Beach, The , The Music
Embarking on a nostalgic journey, our story takes us to the pivotal moment when a 10th grade drama class from Buffalo Academy for the Visual and Performing Arts first ventured to Los Angeles, igniting an enduring love affair with the city. The narrative paints a vivid picture of a young DJ’s dream, the dynamic city of LA, and the powerful influence of music that has spanned decades. As we leap forward to 2025, we get a glimpse of how life in LA has unfolded over the years, whilst celebrating the magic of asking for what we desire. This story truly underscores the belief that dreams do come true.
The Journey Begins
In 10th grade, I talked Debbie, our teacher’s aide, into bringing my drama class to Los Angeles. We were the first to graduate from the Buffalo Academy for the Visual and Performing Arts. It was a long shot and I was having fun with the idea but to my surprise, a few months later, we made it happen.
The Dream Realized
It was the trip of a lifetime for me and I knew then I would end up moving here when I got older. many years paying dues in various markets as a DJ on the air, I knew that when I got to LA radio was over HERE. It’s a LONG stretch from the gray, slushy, overcast winters where I grew up in Buffalo, N.Y. I hear the school still takes trips to this day and they have been all over the world including Paris, France some 30 years later.
Embracing LA Life
For all the things that people say about LA phony, plastic, and materialistic, I’ve been to other places that are much worse. Sure LA has its cast of characters like every other city in the US. A well-known singer once told me, the way to survive in LA is to find a small group of great people and do everything with them. He was right on point. I LOVE LA and took these pics while taking a break from work and a 3 mile walk with a friend at the Santa Monica Pier.
