It explores one person’s journey through the maze of connections, drawing attention to the need for authenticity, meaningful interaction, and valuable content. We will also discuss our experiences with Facebook, a platform once synonymous with socializing, but now often a source of -not–kicked-out-of-my-real-home” target=”_blank”> clutter. Finally, we will examine the importance of maintaining a focused friends list, particularly for those in the music and radio industry.

However, there’s an argument to be made that this isn’t healthy. It’s concerning to see statements like “Goodnight Facebook Family,” instead of interacting with your physical family or partner.

Building a Music and Radio Industry Site

I have been working diligently over the past few months to build my music and radio industry site, TheIndustry.biz . This journey involves both addition and major subtraction. I use Facebook to market my brand, but recently, I felt a strong urge to clean up my Facebook friends list. The clutter on my timeline was becoming overwhelming, and I realized that many of the people I had added were not contributing value to my network.

Cleaning Up and Focusing My Network

It was a liberating to start eliminating people who were not adding value to my network: those I had never met, negative people, and those in constant dire need of validation. Now, the people who remain on my page are like Film Director Reginald Hudlin and Skip Dillard (WBLS and WLIB), who consistently contribute insightful content.

Moving Forward with a Focused Approach

Next, I’m turning my attention to LinkedIn and the mailing list for TheIndustry.biz . As someone running a music and radio industry site, I aim to maintain a network that offers mutual value. I’m prioritizing self-care and setting boundaries to ensure that I can continue to contribute meaningfully to my field.
