Top Dawg Entertainment And RCA Records Collaborate on SiR’s “Chasing Summer”
Fast-forward to 2025, the music industry continues to evolve, embracing a blend of traditional and modern elements. One such instance is the remarkable collaboration between Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) and RCA Records on SiR’s “Chasing Summer”. A few years ago, following the resounding success of SZA’s multi-platinum Ctrl, TDE joined forces with RCA Records for the release of R&B sensation SiR’s Chasing Summer. The first single, “Hair Down” featuring TDE labelmate Kendrick Lamar, set a new standard in the industry.
This collaboration marked a significant milestone in SiR’s career and further solidified the partnership between TDE and RCA. Reflecting on his journey, SiR stated, “I’m thankful for the opportunity my hard work has provided me. About Chasing Summer
Chasing Summer was the follow-up release to SiR’s critically acclaimed November, which featured guest appearances by TDE labelmate ScHoolboy Q and Etta Bond. Released in 2018, November was described as “a neo-soul-tinged space odyssey about love” by Pitchfork. The release of Chasing Summer marked the second partnership between TDE and RCA.
Further Collaborations and Future Plans
In 2017, the two powerhouses released SZA’s major label debut album Ctrl, which spawned several #1 hits resulting in multiple RIAA platinum certifications and awards. “ the success we had working with RCA on SZA’s Ctrl, I felt it was only right to partner up with them again for SiR’s new album Chasing Summer,” said TDE’s CEO Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith. Peter Edge, RCA’s Chairman and CEO, echoed this sentiment, expressing excitement about the ongoing collaboration with TDE.
