Scott Greer – A New Era at Capitol Music Group

This announcement comes from none other than Steve Barnett, the Chairman and CEO of CMG, marking a new chapter for the organization. In his new role, Greer is a senior member of Barnett’s executive team, alongside CMG EVPs Michelle Jubelirer and Greg Thompson, and CFO Geoff Harris. He will supervise the company’s operations in New York and deploy his industry-renowned marketing skills on key CMG and projects the company’s portfolio of labels, like Capitol, Virgin, and Motown.
Furthermore, Greer will collaborate with Jubelirer on overseeing CMG labels Harvest Records, Blue Note, Astralwerks, as well as Caroline: the company’s independent services division. With 18 years of experience at Sony Music, most recently as the Senior Vice President of Marketing for Columbia Records, Greer brings a wealth of expertise to his new role.
Greer’s Impact on Columbia Records
During his tenure at Columbia, Greer created and executed marketing plans for some of music’s most innovative and successful and projects of the past decade. His work includes Adele’s 21, BeyoncĂ©’s eponymous , and Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories – all of which have received countless awards and recognition.
Greer also led high-profile projects for like Jack White, Pharrell Williams, and John Legend. Before Columbia, he was the Vice President of Marketing for Epic Records, managing campaigns for marquee such as Sara Bareilles, Pearl Jam, and Rage Against The Machine.
Greer’s Journey in the Music Industry
Greer’s career started in the International department of Capitol Records in 1991, where he worked with Beastie Boys, Foo Fighters, Frank Sinatra and many others. He joined Epic Records in 1996, marking the start of his remarkable journey in the music industry.
