A Look : Warner/Chappell Music’s Triumphs
As we stand in 2025, let’s take a nostalgic walk down the memory lane to 2016 – a remarkable year for Warner/Chappell Music (WCM), the music publishing arm of Warner Music Group. Recognized as the ‘Music Publisher of the Year’ at the 33rd annual ASCAP Pop Music , WCM also bagged 22 ‘Most Performed Song of the Year’ -on-bet” target=”_blank”>. The songwriting trio Captain Cuts, part of WCM, received the ‘Song of the Year’ for co-writing Walk the Moon’s hit “Shut Up and Dance”. In the same vein, WCM was also named ‘Publisher of the Year’ in 2014 at the 31st annual ASCAP Pop Music Awards, and at the 2015 ASCAP Country and Latin Music Awards. Global Reach, Universal Appeal
Reflecting on the achievement, Jon Platt, the then CEO of Warner/Chappell Music, said, “Warner/Chappell songwriters defined the sound of 2015’s most popular music.” Platt went on to praise the diversity of the winners, which included names from all corners of the globe – from Ali Payami in Sweden and Belly in Canada, to Vance Joy in Australia and Captain Cuts in the U.S., alongside Grammy-winning superstars like Kendrick Lamar and Bruno Mars.
Consistent Success
In 2012, Warner/Chappell was named ASCAP’s Music Publisher of the Year for the first time in more than a decade. Since then, the had gone on to receive this prestigious honor in three out of the five years that followed.
