Netflix Continues Thriving Partnership with The CW Network for Exclusive Subscription Content
As we move further into 2025, it’s evident that partnerships in the industry continue to shape the way we consume content. A notable example of this is the sustained multi-year content licensing relationship between Netflix and The CW Network. Unveiled a decade ago, this collaboration has ensured that Netflix remains the exclusive U.S. subscription television service for previous seasons of scripted series broadcast on The CW.
The collaboration covers all current CW series, as well as all future programs produced for the network. It began with the 2015-2016 broadcast season and has been fruitful ever since. Since the 2016-2017 season, Netflix members have been able to stream full seasons for each of these programs beginning just eight days each show’s season finale.
Programming Highlights
Programming to Netflix members includes the three new series on The CW’s 2016-2017 primetime schedule: FREQUENCY, NO TOMORROW, and RIVERDALE. The hit DC series LEGENDS OF TOMORROW and SUPERGIRL, which will join ARROW and FLASH; and the network’s critically acclaimed JANE THE VIRGIN and CRAZY EX-GIRLFRIEND, featuring the Golden Globe-winning performances of Gina Rodriguez and Rachel Bloom, respectively. The roster also includes fan favorites such as THE VAMPIRE DIARIES and series THE 100, IZOMBIE, THE ORIGINALS and REIGN.
Valued Partnership
“Netflix members in the US love the great lineup of series from The CW, and we are thrilled to extend the relationship and bring those shows to our members exclusively now, just eight days their season finales,” said Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer at Netflix. “This is a great step forward with a valued network partner to give fans exactly what they want, when and how they want it.”
Mark Pedowitz, President, The CW, echoes this sentiment, highlighting that the new agreement continues and enhances this valuable relationship, positioning The CW as a hybrid network, rooted in broadcast while fully embracing the and streaming habits of the viewers.
Continued Success
Scott Koondel, Vice President and Chief Corporate Content Licensing Officer, CBS Corporation, anticipates continued success with Netflix on this partnership well into the future. “This multi-year agreement recognizes the value of our content and it validates the marketplace’s confidence in our studio’s long-term ability to produce high-quality content.”
As we stride into 2025, the Netflix-CW partnership remains a beacon of successful collaboration in the streaming industry, providing viewers with a wealth of quality content at their fingertips.
