Looks like GCI has taken a fresh new approach to morning shows. I APPLAUD it! We need to start breaking some new talent in the industry KUDOS WGCI!!!!!

WGCI-FM Program Director Kris Kelley today announced that WGCI-FM (107.5) is returning to a local morning show, beginning April 1, 2009.  “The Morning Riot,” will be hosted by Tony Sculfield, Nina Chantele and Leon Rogers from 5am to 9am weekdays, replacing The steve harvey Morning Show, which moved to sister station WVAZ-FM/V103.

“I am so excited that WGCI-FM is returning to a local morning show and the perfect talent was already on our staff.  Tony Sculfield, Nina Chantele and Leon Rogers will bring entertainment, comedy, topical news and high-energy to mornings on WGCI-FM,” said Kelley Tony Sculfield is a staple to WGCI-FM’s listeners, having hosted his own highly-rated afternoon drive show since 2006. Sculfield has spent nearly ten years with WGCI-FM and the Chicagoland community as resident comedian, former morning show support and host of “Riot Radio” on Saturday mornings.

Nina Chantele joins WGCI-FM from sister station 103.5 KISS-FM where she hosts a midday show from 10AM to 1PM weekdays.  Chantele, born and raised on the south side of Chicago, returned home in 2006 after working at KZZA-FM in Dallas, Texas.  Chantele will continue to host her midday show on 103.5 KISS-FM. “I am very excited to share Nina Chantele with WGCI-FM.  She will continue to host a live midday show on 103.5 KISS-FM.  Chantele is a great talent and will ‘woo’ the WGCI-FM audience as she has done on 103.5 KISS-FM,” said Rick Vaughn, 103.5 KISS-FM Program Director.

Leon Rogers currently hosts “Go Getta Radio” with Frankie Robinson from 6pm to 10pm weekdays on WGCI-FM. He was first introduced to WGCI-FM’s audience as comedic relief and morning show support back in 2006.  Rogers is a nationally known comedian that has worked with some of the top comedians in the entertainment industry, including Cedric “The Entertainer,” Bernie Mac, steve harvey and D.L. Hughley.  Rogers is no stranger to the spotlight, his quick wit landed him a spot in the 1995 HBO produced movie, “The Tuskegee Airmen.”  Rogers’ fans also caught a glimpse of him in the 2002 hit movie, “Barber Shop.”  Rogers, a Chicago native, got his start at Chicago’s All Jokes Aside Comedy Club.

Art Porter returns to WGCI-FM as Morning Show Producer of “The Morning Riot.” Porter has served as show producer for WGCI-FM and WVAZ-FM/V103 morning and afternoon drive shows at various intervals for close to fifteen years.  “Art completes our morning show package as show producer.  He has the experience and the pulse of the Chicagoland and entertainment communities,” said Kelley.
