Radio Facts: During Virginia Governor Tim Kaineโ€™s last radio show today on WTOP radio, he got a surprise call from a โ€œBarry from DC.โ€ โ€œBarry from DC is calling,โ€ Kaine said on live radio. โ€œGo ahead Barryโ€ โ€œWell, uh, governor Kaine this is, uh, actually the president of the United States calling,โ€ Obama said joking that he had some, โ€œquestions about traffic in northern Virginia.โ€Actually, the President was calling into Kaineโ€™s last radio show to wish him a congratulations for a job well done as Virginiaโ€™s governor. Kaine is leaving his office as governor in January, but will remain chairman of the DNC. The White House confirms the President made the call, but say a WTOP producer referred to the President as โ€œBarry from DCโ€ to keep the surprise for Kaine on air. The President didnโ€™t actually refer to himself as such. โ€œI just wanted to say how proud we are of your service as governor of the commonwealth of Virginia,โ€ President Obama said,โ€And just wish you and the family all the best.โ€ The governor thanked him, and referenced the health care vote in the Senate.โ€The vote the other night was a powerful, powerful moment and weโ€™ve got a lot of good work to do and Iโ€™m looking forward to being helpful.โ€ Obama said congratulations once again and then told Kaine to, โ€œget back to the show.โ€via โ€œBarry from DC is calling?โ€ย Obama Calls Virginia Radio Show โ€“ Political Punch.
