Three Florida A&M University (FAMU) alumni were named to the Orlando Business Journal’s 40 under 40 list for 2020.
The publication’s list recognized the community’s 40 most influential leaders in business all under 40 years old. Among the list are state Rep. Kamia Brown and School of Journalism & Graphic Communication graduates Jaylen Christie and Malika Harrison.
Brown was first elected to the Florida Legislature to represent District 45 in 2016. A Democrat, she graduated from FAMU in 2003 with a bachelor’s in political science.
Christie is director of public relations for Moxe Inc., an integrated marketing agency. Christie, the youngest PR director in the company’s history, also serves as a community volunteer in Orlando and was appointed to the Orlando Economic Partnership’s Young Professional Advisory Council to further Orlando’s economic and business structure. The Tallahassee native graduated from FAMU with a bachelor’s in journalism in 2009.
Harrison is the director of social responsibility for the Orlando Magic and also oversees all aspects of the Orlando Magic Youth Foundation (OMYF).
Before joining the Magic three years ago, Harrison worked with S&P Global and S&P Global Foundation. She graduated from FAMU in 2006 with a bachelor’s in journalism.
The three alumni will be among those honored at a Nov. 12 event.
