The Rickey Smiley Morning Show asked if church leaders should live luxuriously. Reports said that the congregation of the Bling-Bling pastor is still traumatized after several gunmen bursts into his church, said Rickey Smiley. The robbery was timed perfectly, added the morning show host. The robbers seemingly came in at the time of service when the ushers were supposed to sit down.

The thieves allegedly targeted Bishop Lamor Whitehead, who is the head of Leaders of Tomorrow International Churches, said Smiley. The flossy pastor is known for his seemingly “flashy displays of wealth.”

According to the NYPD, the thieves made off with more than $1 million worth of jewelry, informed Smiley.

Whitehead addressed the robbery and said that he knows some people question whether a church leader should be living in luxury. “You know, I seen a blogger posted, oh, the Bishop that wears a lot of diamonds was robbed, and I know a lot of people gonna say, oh why are you so flashy? It’s not about me being flashy. It’s about me purchasing what I want to purchase. And it’s my prerogative to purchase what I want to purchase. If I worked hard for it, I can purchase what I want to purchase. When I laid down on the floor when the young man came… and put the gun into my back, as y’all see on the video. They took my watch. Took my jewelry. Took my bishop’s ring. Took my wedding band, and then they took my bishop’s cross. And I had my other chains underneath my shirt, and he tapped my back to see because he knew. Because I know they were sent, and he ripped my collar off. Just to get to my jewelry,” said Whitehead.

The morning show questioned why Bishop Whitehead had on so many chains. Other celebrities with “necklaces” were also discussed. Da Brad explained that no one would “mess with Mr. T.” Gary With Da Tea said the bishop does not wear his robe all the time, and when he takes it off, he likes to sport his chains.

Maria More asked why a preacher would “need that” to preach the word. Rickey Smiley said Bishop Whitehead is active in business, and he owns mortgage and real estate companies.
