Tavis Smiley and Cornel West Appear on John Monds Radio Show at Magic 102.3

I still don’t get this. have been invisible in the . What the hell are they talking about?

  1. Go ahead Tavis and West. Tell it like it is. Obama is ignoring black folks’ issues and concerns.

Let’s ignore him in November 2012.

  2. Okay…if ALL the current ‘economic woes’ in America are squarely the fault of President Obama, then what is the proposed “BOTTOM-LINE” Smiley/West resolution for an immediate turn around? I have YET to hear this CLEARLY articulated in their debates/rhetoric/public presentations, etc. And if ANYONE else as an “immediate resolution”…PLEASE be so kind as to share it with the rest of us!

  3. People act as if President Obama has a magic wand. The issues he’s face with affect all strata,of incomes. He’s not the President of Black people. What he needs is this same energy directed at getting people involved in local politics! We fail to realize that local/state politics WAY more vital than national elections.

Most people can’t tell you who their local & state representatives are nor the name of their U.S. Senators or Congressman or the districts they live in/represent. I’m not say we can’t criticize the President, but I believe this energy is “sooo” misdirected.

  4. @David,

You are right. He is not the President of Black people. He is the President of Gay people.

He fought hard to have “Dont ask. Dont tell” (and won) repealed. He fought hard to get Federal benefits for the lovers of Gay Federal Workers. President Obama has instructed the Justice Department to no longer defend the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act, or DOMA, the legal prohibition on federal recognition of same-sex marriages.

He feels these issues are a lot more important than 16% Black Unemployment.

Trust momma. Obama is a one-term President.

  5. @Ms. Sharyn,

Is it West/Smiley’s job to come up with an answer to America’s economic woes or is it the President, Congress and the Senate?
