"The Kidd Kraddick Morning Show" Does Thursday Meet-Up in Four Markets and Spreads the Love to Thousands of KiddNation Members The Kidd Kraddick Morning Show took the opportunity to spread out across four of their affiliate markets last week for a Thursday Meet-Up with thousands of KiddNation members. Co-host Big Al Mack visited Hits 96/WDOD in Chattanooga, TN, on Thursday, August 8th, where he was the guest of honor at the Chattanooga Lookouts baseball game. He collected back-to-school supplies for local children, threw out the first pitch of the game, led the crowd in “Take Me Out To the Ballgame” and met hundreds of Hits 96 listeners. Also on Thursday, The Kidd Kraddick Morning Show's J-Si Chavez and Ana visited Mix 100.3/KMMX in Lubbock, TX, where more than 500 people came out to meet the popular pair and share in some photo booth fun! Co-host Jenna Owens visited B97/WEZB in New Orleans, LA, where she gave out hundreds of Sno-ball ice cream treats to fans of the show. Part-Time Justin and Producer Nick visited Power 108/KWPW in Waco, TX, where they did a live recording of their “Shut Up!” podcast and met a ton of listeners. Urban One, Inc. (NASDAQ: UONEK and UONE) this week reported its results for the quarter ended December 31, 2018. Net revenue was approximately $113.5 million, an increase of 4.1% from the same period in 2017. Broadcast and digital operating income1 was approximately $44.6 million, an increase of 0.5% from the same period in 2017. The Company reported operating income of approximately $9.4 million for the three months ended December 31, 2018, compared to approximately $20.6 million for the same period in 2017. Net income was approximately $116.9 million or $2.62 per share (basic) and $2.49 per share (diluted) compared to approximately $121.3 million or $2.63 per share (basic) and $2.50 per share (diluted) for the same period in 2017. Adjusted EBITDA2 was approximately $35.3 million for the three months ended December 31, 2018, compared to $38.7 million for the same period in 2017. Alfred C. Liggins, III, Urban One's CEO and President stated, "I was pleased that we came in slightly ahead of our Adjusted EBITDA guidance, led by extremely strong radio performance. Our radio segment revenue was up by 16.5% including political advertising, and by 8.8% excluding political. For the quarter, we outperformed the radio markets in which we operate by 850 bps. Our Cable TV operation posted strong growth in advertising revenues, up 9.3%, driven by increased direct response rates, and additional ad units, which was offset by a modest decline in affiliate revenues (-2.0%). Our digital revenues underperformed expectations, and we have taken significant steps to remediate. I expect improved performance from the division in 2019. In December, we substantially completed the refinancing of our 2020 Notes, which significantly extends the Company's debt maturity profile. On January 19, 2019 we successfully launched our new Women's lifestyle channel, Cleo TV, which will further enhance our ability to entertain and inform our core consumers."
Radio Industry Veteran John Madison Joins VNUE, Inc. VNUE, Inc., today announced the addition of radio veteran John Madison to its executive team. Mr. Madison has spent over 25 years working in radio, and has been brought into VNUE as an advisor to assist in the rollout of the Soundstr music recognition technology into that sector. VNUE CEO Zach Bair said, "We are excited to have John involved with the company. We believe that he will contribute greatly as it relates to adoption of Soundstr into the industry, helping to establish VNUE as the market leader in transparency and in the auditing of radio play so that the correct stakeholders are paid, and that music licenses are fair and equitable." In addition to several leadership roles in the music industry, including as Executive Vice President with Warner Music Group, Madison has also held high profile positions in radio. He has worked as Senior Vice President at Pyramid Broadcasting, where he was responsible for several large markets including Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and Phoenix. He also served as Senior Vice President at AMFM, formerly Chancellor Media, which at the time was the nation's largest radio broadcasting company. Mr. Madison was responsible for station operations in major markets, focusing on increasing leadership, increasing revenue, and developing and executing new music marketing programs. He also was a member of a corporate team that undertook a broad-based internet strategy intended to leverage the value of the company's leading national station portfolio and proprietary content. Madison said, "VNUE has the right idea with Soundstr, and I'm looking forward to helping get this technology into radio. It will provide transparency across the board, and we hope that by leveraging this technology, we can not only keep radio licensing costs in line, but also, ensure the right songwriters are being compensated." At VNUE, Madison will be a direct advisor to CEO Bair and his executive team, helping to implement strategy with major radio station groups.
