Rickey Smiley Talks About the Beef Between Mo’Nique and D.L. Hughley: There is no Place in Comedy for Disrespectful Behavior (VIDEO)

Rickey Smiley talked about the beef between Mo’Nique and D.L. Hughley. Smiley said it is a sad day in comedy because of the fallout between the two comedians.

“It’s hurtful personally because talking about somebody that I started out with vs. somebody that [I] mentored with,” said Smiley.

Sometimes sacrifices have to be made to give the best performance to the fans.

“Sometimes it comes down to common sense courtesy. What do I have to sacrifice to keep down confusion and beef?” said Smiley.

Comedians need to bring their best game to the stage regardless of going on first or last, said Smiley. The Youtuber said he gives his fans his best performance and his best energy so that irrespective of his order on stage, he is a tough act to follow.

“There have been times when I’ve done comedy shows with certain people that have a huge a** freakin’ ego and just kind of mean spirited,” said Smiley.

Smiley said the beef went too far when D.L Hughley’s wife was brought up. The radio host said he would have never mentioned the comedy star’s wife.

“If it’s more hurtful and offensive than it is funny should you say that?” said Smiley.

Smiley said he has friends in the industry that he would never disrespect and talk about their families no matter how mad he becomes. He used his friendship with comedian Earthquake as an example.

“I don’t give a f**k how made earthquake made me; I’m not going to go on stage and jump on this radio and say nothing about Earthquake, no matter what,” said Smiley.

He added that the best way to go about things is respectfully and in order.

“If can’t nobody agree, what’s on the paper? What’s the order cause you have a contract,” he said.

Follow the agenda for the show in the order scheduled, and there should not be any conflict. However, there is no place in comedy for disrespect.

“Pray for everybody involved, and just pray that we can learn and find better ways to resolve issues and not be so confrontational, personal, and nasty… because there is no place in comedy for it,” said Smiley.
