Rhythmic APD Preston Lowe’s Services on Tuesday

1512445_10201851272298416_496367328_nServices will be held for Lowe at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, at Bastrop Christian Outreach Center, 1096 Hwy. 71 West, in Bastrop. All Radio News is sorry to report that former Austin radio disc jockey and Bastrop native Preston Edward Lowe, 45, died Jan. 21 in Dallas.  The former 104.3 The Beat dj was born Aug. 4, 1968, in Detroit, Mich. to John and Clarice Thomas Lowe. The family moved to Bastrop and Lowe grew up here, graduating from Bastrop High School in 1986. Lowe was well-known for his musical skills and he, along with his brothers Paul, Pat and Perry, performed often as the Lowe Brothers in the area. But his career in music took a slightly different turn behind the mic. He helped launch 1370 AM in 1991, which started playing urban adult contemporary music and now features talk radio. In 1998, Lowe helped launch 104.3 The Beat, playing urban and rhythmic music. He served as the station’s program director until 2005, when he moved to Dallas to become the music director at 97.9 The Beat.
