NYMRAD has L.A.Reid on Panel for “How Radio Creates the Next Star”

Today, New York Market Radio [NYMRAD] presented a panel on “How Radio Creates the Next Star” during Ad Week. The panel kicked off with a special keynote presentation from Grammy Award-winning music industry executive, songwriter, producer and TV celebrity, L.A. Reid. He re-enforced the powerful message of radio as he inspired the crowd, “We are making music that can play on the radio. The power of radio is bigger than artists. I embrace the importance of radio and artists. I define success by what I hear on the radio”. Joined by entertainment industry leaders, brand decision-makers, and business leaders, the panel gathered in the Times Center in New York City to discuss how radio is a powerful vehicle in today’s media world.

Epic records recording artist, Marcus Canty, originally of The X Factor brought the sounds of radio to life as he sang his latest hit “In & Out”. The exclusive performance was followed by a conversation with brand-building experts who explained how and why radio is an optimal choice to catapult the aforementioned breakout artist to superstardom. The conversation captured the attention of audience members as Joe Puglise, NYMRAD Chair and President and Market Manager, iHeartmedia (formerly Clear Channel) Media and Entertainment, New York, Mark Shimmel, Chief Operating Officer, Epic Records, Steve Bartels, President and Chief Operating Officer, Island Def Jam Music Group, Bozoma Saint John, Music and Entertainment Marketing, PepsiCo and Ebro Darden, Vice President, Programming, Emmis, New York spoke on the prestige of radio as a communication medium.
