Today, Nation of Language announce some of their biggest shows to date, embarking on a co-headline run with Blonde Redhead this October. The new tour arrives following the recently announced East Coast headline dates and Midwest run with Beach Fossils which commences next week.
All of these shows arrive in support of of their 2023 album, Strange Disciple which went on to be named Rough Trade’s #1 Album of The Year last year.
Blonde Redhead will be touring in support of their 2023 album, Sit Down for Dinner with both bands alternating who closes the night, Nation of Language closing in Seattle and Portland with Blonde Redhead closing in Los Angeles and San Francisco.
Ahead of the West Coast run, Nation of Language will also be performing at festivals, co-headlining Field Day Festival and performing at Bonnaroo Festival before returning to Europe for All Points East (UK), End of the Road (UK), Pukkelpop (Belgium), Way Out West (Sweden) and MEO Kalorama (Portugal) amongst others – tickets on sale for all dates HERE.
Since the release of Strange Disciple in September 2023, Nation of Language have further reaffirmed themselves as “the best synth-pop band in the world” (Paste), from topping Rough Trade’s Top 100 Albums of 2023 to selling out nearly every one of their US, EU and UK tour dates last year, to dominating the radio waves at KCRW (listener-voted Top 10 album), KEXP (listener-voted #2 AOTY), SiriusXMU (“Sole Obsession” Top 10 SOTY, “Weak In Your Light” added to Alt Nation) and dozens of college stations across the country, debuting on their first-ever Billboard charts, and earning praise from Pitchfork, Vice, LA Times and many others listed below.
Alongside acclaim in North America, Nation of Language landed the #1 Rock Album at Tower Records (Japan), AOTY support from Clash (UK), 3 songs on RadioEins Top 100 of 2023 (Germany) as well as further AOTY support at Le Monde and Télérama (France), Avopolis (Greece) and ParcoParanoico (Italy).
Strange Disciple explores themes of hopeless devotion, toxic infatuation, outrage-baiting news cycles, the battle of agony vs. ecstasy and more across highlights like “Sole Obsession,” “Weak In Your Light,” “Sightseer” and “Too Much, Enough,” which arrived with a music video starring Westworld‘s Jimmi Simpson, Reggie Watts, Kevin Morby, Tomberlin, Adam Green and more. “Nation of Language have never released a bad song,” says AV Club. “And with this record, that streak remains blessedly unbroken.”
