MTV Japan Honors TLC in Celebration of Their 20th Anniversary

tlc japanFive-time Grammy award-winning iconic pop group tlc returned to the stage for the Video Music Japan 2013 with a highly anticipated performance and acceptance of the prestigious “Legend Award.” The show premiered on MTV Japan on Sunday June 23rd with millions of lifelong tlc fans tuned in from around the world in different time zones to catch the group’s return.

T-Boz and Chilli were welcomed by countless fans and a frenzy of media as they posed on the red carpet wearing Alpana Neeraj dresses at the MTV Video Music Awards Japan 2013. The commemorative event was a family affair with T-Boz’s daughter Chase and Chilli’s son Tron in attendance to watch their moms be honored. jumpstarted their performance of their greatest hits with a high-energy dance with a Japanese dance troupe as fans jumped and screamed in sheer amazement. From “Ain’t to Proud to Beg” to “Waterfalls” with a verse from the late Left-Eye, TLC shut the MTV Japan stage down as thousands of fans in the audience clapped, screamed and begged for an encore.

“We would just like to thank all of our fans and anybody who has had a hand in our career. We’ve had 20 years and we are still going,” said T-Boz. The MTV Japan “Legend Award” was an honor only given to Michael Jackson making TLC the first artists to receive the award in 7 years. “Lisa “Left-Eye” Lopes is our sister, she lives on forever in this group TLC,” said Chilli as the group accepted their award.

The MTV-Japan appearance marks the first in a series of upcoming TLC sightings. Fans can hear the ladies on a rare cameo appearance on J. Cole‘s single ““ from his newly released album Born Sinner. TLC will also make their U.S. return at the Mixtape Festival 2013 presented by VH1 on July 27th in Hershey, PA. Media has been buzzing about the release of CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story this fall with VH1, which shows T-Boz and Chilli stepping into the role of executive producers for their biopic. TLC lovers can also expect highly anticipated new music, additional tour dates and more surprises from the legendary group.
