Hoverboard Malfunction Sends Man Into Detroit River

A hoverboard malfunction sent a man plunging into the Detroit River. The board dived as it flipped over during a demonstration at an auto show on Sunday.

The rider went headfirst into the water after cruising over the river while he showed off the board. Nearby coastguards immediately responded and assisted the man in getting out of the water.

In addition to cars and trucks, this year’s auto show also focused on the sky. Over the weekend, the coast guard closed a section of the river to boats for the air demonstrations, which will take place through Sept. 25.

Attendants could check out airplanes, hoverboards, and jetpacks at the show.
