Greg & The Morning Buzz, iHeartMedia New Hampshire’s No. 1 morning radio show syndicated on 100.3 WHEB, Rock 101, 104.9 The Hawk and Q106, The Peak 101.9/100.7 Claremont and Keene, NH, announced today the return of the annual 29th annual Lend A Helping Can radiothon and fundraiser to benefit 11 New Hampshire charities working to combat local hunger and homelessness.
On Thursday, November 21 and Friday, November 22, Greg & The Morning Buzz will extend its broadcast to a 13-and-a-half-hour radiothon, from 5:30 a.m. – 7 p.m. On-air personalities from the morning show will encourage listeners to donate to Lend A Helping Can by calling the station or by participating in an online auction. The broadcast will feature both in-studio and call-in guests such as comedians Bob Marley and Jimmy Dunn, Sully Erna from Godsmack, guitarist Gary Hoey, Governor Chris Sununu and many others.
“Hunger in New Hampshire is an invisible problem,” said Greg Kretschmar, on-air personality of The Morning Buzz Show that spearheads the event and created the initiative 29 years ago. “Currently one in nine people in the state are food insecure. It has always been our goal to reduce that number as much as we possibly can. Lend a Helping Can is a great way to engage our listeners to give back.”
Proceeds from Lend a Helping Can will benefit the following local organizations: Salvation Army of Portsmouth & Manchester, My Friends Place, New Horizons of NH, The NH Food Bank, Community Action Program of Strafford County, Community Action Program of Rockingham County, Community Partners, Families In Transition, David’s House At C.H.A.D.and Crossroads House.
Some of the items up for this year’s online auction include: trip to Los Angeles with tickets to iHeartRadio ALTer EGO, fishing trip with National Geographic’s Wicked Tuna’s Captain Dave Marciano and much more. The list of items is ever growing and can be viewed at morningbuzz.com. Incentives and gifts will be provided by local businesses, concert venues, musical artists and record labels throughout the fundraiser.
Since its inception, the event has raised well over $1,000,000 and hundreds of tons of canned food items to feed residents in need. The presenting sponsor for the radiothon is the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport.
