Popular DJ Quits Radio

With over 12 years in the game of radio, DJ Skee calls it quits. The former KISS FM DJ basically cited radio sucking as his main reason for leaving. Wow Skee! Tell us how you really feel.
The radio veteran has been successful at launching his own brand with his SkeeTV imprint while simultaneously remaining an integral part of the radio community. The Minnesota native also serves as the chairman of the digital media agency SKEEMATIC which represents brands including Google & AT&T.
Skee first appeared on radio in 2000 at the age of 16 on Minneapolis’s KMOJ, and was on air through 2001 until he moved to Los Angeles. In 2004, Skee started a show on Satellite Radio, and was featured on Sirius XM Radio daily from 5pm-10pm EST until August 2014. In early 2007, Skee launched a show on KPWR (Power 106) Los Angeles, before leaving for rival Radio Station KIIS-FM in November 2008. His shows have also been heard worldwide via syndication in Australia, Japan, and Europe.
With the success he has amassed in radio and beyond, Skee points out that he is grateful for the platform that contributed so much to his success but he has fallen out of love with radio. He states that he feels limited by the corporate constraints placed on the industry by the fact only six or so companies own and control the majority of the Radio Station s. He also points out he doesn’t feel alone in his sentiment that, “radio sucks.” Skee highlights the reality that despite 96% of the country listening to radio, many listeners are dissatisfied with repetitive playlists, lack of originality, and the massive amounts of commercials. He mentions not compromising his integrity but in the end, he is walking away to take a stand and hopefully change broadcast radio for the better.
Skee doesn’t reveal his next move but he  definitely leaves you with the impression he has something big up his sleeves. Peep the video below to see his full resignation from the business of radio.
