CONVERSE AND MAURICE EVANS SCORE BIG AMONG ATLANTA YOUTH WITH FREE CONVERSE OPEN GYM EVENTAtlanta Hawks Forward Maurice Evans pictured with participants at Converse Open Gym in Atlanta Mo Evans and YouthOn March 20, the first day of Spring in Atlanta was brought in with a mean crossover, sweet jump shot and hard hustle as over 400 local youth participated in Converse Open Gym at Morehouse College. In addition to competing in pick-up basketball games and receiving complimentary Converse gear and haircuts from Master Barber Coty Morgan, the youth were also treated to a visit from Atlanta Hawks Forward Maurice Evans and Ryan Cameron of V-103 FM.Since November 2007, Converse has hosted Open Gym around the country for youth ages 12 to 18. The program gives every player, regardless of skill level, the opportunity to play basketball and has garnered participation from over 25,000 youth. Participants receive Open Gym jerseys and some have the opportunity to test Converse performance basketball product and hear from Converse athletes like Elton Brand and Maurice Evans.Maurice Evans took part in every aspect of the event, from serving as a court-monitor and registering kids, to sharing some of his on-court knowledge & off-court experiences.”I teamed up with Converse here at Open Gym in Atlanta to give kids an opportunity to play basketball in a safe environment,” said Mo Evans. “I’m honored to be a Converse athlete and excited about the great things planned for Atlanta that will create positive environments for kids to stay active and have fun.”Converse Open Gym is free for all participants and takes place two-times per month at Morehouse College or Georgia Tech University.
