Early this year Disney released ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’, an origin movie about Young Han Solo. But due to how poorly the movie did at the box office, the next awaited ‘Star Wars’ spinoff about the bounty hunter Boba Fett, will no longer be in the works.
Talks about Boba Fett’s spinoff have been circulating for the past five years. But fans were thrilled this past spring to hear that Logan director James Mangold was on board with the film.
But according to journalist Erick Weber, he was told by the president of LucasFilms Kathleen Kennedy, that the spin-off is completely dead. Weber then tweeted the news on Thursday (Oct. 25).
Kathleen Kennedy just confirmed to me Boba Fett movie is 100% dead, 100% focusing on THE MANDALORIAN #StarWars

Boba Fett made his first on-screen appearance in ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ in 1980. He wore a customized Mandalorain armor, had deadly weapons and had a silent demeanor. Fett was one of the most feared bounty hunters in the galaxy. But eventually was killed by Han Solo. Solo hit Boba Fett, causing his jetpack to break, and him falling into the Sarlacc pit. That’s where he met his death.
The next Star Wars project that is in development is The Mandalorain. The project will be a live action series by Iron Man’s Jon Favreau and being developed for Disney’s upcoming streaming service. Favreau teased a synopsis of the series on Instagram earlier this month: “After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorain is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic….”
This is not the same as receiving a Boba Fett movie, but this might be enough to have fans excited for the time being.
