iHeartmedia (formerly Clear Channel) has brought its iheartradio app to Android mobile iheartradiophones. The free app allows users to listen to nearly 400 radio stations online. The application has previously been available as a website, an iPhone app and a BlackBerry application.
The newest BlackBerry version of the app, version 2.2, includes a special Verizon Wireless edition. Verizon Wireless subscribers will be able to take advantage of integrated V Cast Music features including the ability to make mobile purchases of full-tracks, ringtones and ringback tones. Besides on-demand content, users will also be able to access music videos through the upgraded BlackBerry app.
iHeartmedia (formerly Clear Channel) is taking advantage of technology to spread the reach of its radio stations. Now that the company has to compete against new technology like satellite radio it needs to find alternative ways to reach listeners besides the airwaves. A great way to do that is to partner with a wireless carrier to offer unique abilities within a mobile application.
