98.7 KISS FM RAISES OVER $76,000 FOR HAITIAN RELIEF DURING “HELP FOR HAITI ” RADIOTHON WITH THE SALVATION ARMY

( New York , NY ) ““ on Monday, January 18th during a special radiothon on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, 98.7 KISS FM, New York’s #1 Radio Station for Old School and Today’s R&B, in partnership with the Salvation Army, raised $76,438.70 towards relief efforts for those affected during the catastrophic earthquake which hit Haiti last week.The D.L. Hughley Morning Show, featuring D.L. Hughley, Jacque Reid , Steve Wilson and Bob Slade , kicked off the radiothon from 6am-10am.   Listeners were asked to donate any amount to the special line created by the Salvation Army for 98.7 KISS FM and those that donated $98 or more received special song requests and dedications.D.L. Hughley said, “First of all, I want to thank our listeners, my KISS-FM family and The Salvation Army for helping us raise money for Haiti . Whether we are joking or talking to you honestly, we will ALWAYS do the best we can. And yesterday was no exception.”   After the outpouring of calls and support from KISS listeners, the radiothon was extended to 3pm with 98.7 KISS FM’s Midday Hostess, Shaila.Jill Strada, Program Director for 98.7 KISS FM said, “I can not think of a better way to spend the MLK Day of Service than with our partners from the Salvation Army!  The Tri-State came together and  raised a significant amount of money in 98.7 KISS-FM’s “Help For Haiti” Radiothon.
