For the seventh, WBLS and the Café Mocha Radio show kick off the Circle of Sisters celebration by hosting the Salute Her: Beauty of Diversity Reception & Awards on Thursday, August 28, 2017, at Mist Harlem. The Café Mocha show, affectionately known as ‘Radio from a Woman’s Perspective,’ airs Saturday mornings from 6 – 8 am on WBLS 107.5. Five diverse women who are making a difference in their respective communities will be honored. The mission of the Salute Her Awards is to highlight a variety of talented and accomplished women who are succeeding in their fields, while making significant contributions within their communities. This year’s theme, Redefining What Perseverance Looks Like from the Inside Out, speaks to the importance of women maintaining their inner spirit to find strength to be the best they can be. Toyota, committed to green living and bettering the environment, will once again present the Salute Her: Toyota Green Initiative Award to an outstanding female student in the STEM field who exemplify the goal of the company’s sustainability campaign. The initiative promotes sustainability awareness and education in African-American communities across the country.

The Community Service Award is being presented to one deserving lady chosen from nominations submitted by listeners at www.saluteHer.com. Grammy Awards- nominated balladeer, songwriter Kenny Lattimore will present a special music tribute to the honorees.
The Salute Her Awards: Beauty of Diversity supports the Mocha Cares Foundation, which helps provide services to combat homelessness, domestic violence and foster care through mentorship programs.
