WBLK’s Chris Reynolds is on a Mission to Change Perceptions via the Station

There are plenty of young talented jocks out there that will never get a chance to grow cause PD’s arent into developing talent. Big ups to Elroy Smith for bringing in CTG cause knowing Elroy and knowing of CTG you would never think this match would work.
Come on Kev! Charlamagne’s a jerk!
Adiva, (love that name) yes, he can be a bit much but I always like shit that’s outside the box. I think Tom Joyner is boring. At least Charlamagne is innovative….
[...] Diddy (may be a reflection of Wendy Williams dislike for Diddy and the organization) makes note in this video that we posted of how so many Bad Boy artists have failed or how their careers never materialized [...]
That dude is right….if a syndicated cat has a 20 hour presence in 300 markets, that about 400-600 people out of work not developing talent on a local level. Not only that, how does one dude speak on behalf of 300 cities? It’s ludacrious and that dude is actually right on point!!! That kid – Charlamagne – is super smart!!!!!!
Please remember that Radio (Urban, country, rock, etc.) is a business. It must attract listeners and that’s measured listeners, if the station is going to be successful. Over the recent years, there has been an increase in syndicated programming in Urban radio. This has been done primarily because the listeners, measured listeners are responding.
I am sorry that so many people are out of work but radio is a business and if syndicated programming helps the station become more profitable then syndication will continue in the future.
please stop it with the hey “folks let’s remember at the end of the day it’s a business like that’s saying somthing in a business model that’s been broken long before sept of last year when mccain said the fundamentals of the american economy are sound, come off it, we all knew back then the business model of so-called urban radio was in the toilet, urban radio is fragmented, and also to syndicated aswell, to the anonymous poster, I think people are begining to wise up and are saying maybe the gangsta boogie and fragmented formats in urban radio plus syndication have become to closed minded.
Radio stations are on life support and we all know the reasons why, to play with an outdated business ideaology is fools hope with no gold at the end of the tunnel. We need people in radio and in control that are willing to challenge the system instead of being willing to play in it and wind up being played by it at the end of the day. It’s time for new blood…..
First let me apologize for being anonymous. I have been working in radio for a number of years and this is the first major disaster for Urban radio. Let me also say that many Urban radio stations are winning is these hard times. Stations like WEDR in Miami, WALR in Atlanta and KBFB in Dallas to name a few. While these maybe hard times for most, it will make us more effective and efficient in the future. You may not like me calling this a business (how are you going to raise $5,000,000 to $50,000,000 to buy stations if it is not a business) and you may want a new business model developed. Well, it is a business and the new model is being developed right before our eyes. The new model has fewer people working at stations and the ones that are working will be wearing (if they are not already wearing) many new hats. Revenue from old and dying advertising is being pushed aside for new advertisers, ones who have never used media. You will find a greater push on the internet sites of stations, a greater push in the use of mobile phones and such. Yes, there will be more Urban stations that will go dark this and next year but the ones that stay will be stronger and better. Listeners want to hear good familiar HITS and be entertained. Just look at the numbers.
